About Us
Dr. Bandana Bisht is an alumna of PGIMER, Chandigarh, and CMC&H, Ludhiana, Punjab, where she laid the foundation for her career in mental health. She had received intensive training in some of the most renowned mental health institutions in India, including PGIMER, Chandigarh; CMC&H, Ludhiana; Central Institute of Psychiatry, Ranchi; NIMHANS, Bangalore; and CMC, Vellore. This rigorous training provided her with a solid grounding in mental health care. With a PhD specializing in Interpersonal Psychotherapy, her journey in mental health has been both extensive and deeply fulfilling. To further refine her expertise, she pursued multiple certifications in Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Interpersonal Social Rhythm Therapy, and Parenting.
In her professional career, she had the privilege of serving as Faculty in the Department of Psychiatry at GMCH, Chandigarh. Her 16 years of experience as a mental health professional encompass a wide range of roles, including Principal, Academician, and Researcher at a reputed university. For nearly a decade in academia, she counseled numerous college students and came to an important realization: many behavioral problems in adolescence stem from the extremes of parenting—whether it be over-parenting or absent parenting. She observed that high-risk behaviors such as suicidal tendencies, drug abuse, risky sexual behavior, overspending, and conflicts with parents often arise from issues like low self-esteem, frustration, lack of self-discipline, and poor decision-making skills. These crucial life skills are typically developed during a child’s formative years, and when parenting is not well-balanced, it can lead to significant challenges in adolescence.
This insight fueled her passion for parenting. She realized that by providing parents with the right guidance and support, many of the emotional and behavioral problems that arise during adolescence and early adulthood can be prevented.
Beyond her work in psychiatric settings, She has dedicated herself to understanding the emotional and cognitive development of children by actively supporting and guiding parents through the challenges of parenthood. Her book, “Parenting for Generation Alpha,” is available on Amazon and offers evidence-based, comprehensive parenting methods designed to help parents navigate the complexities of raising children in today’s world.
At “Listening to You,” she bring together her expertise in mental health and her passion for parenting to offer a compassionate and informed approach for the person and families in need.
